In fact, now there is no need to drive anywhere! You can now stay near the flow, in our brand new B&B!
Our B&B at LAVA BEDS HAWAII was established in 2009. It is a solar and wind powered home. Taking the landscape into careful consideration, my wife and I designed and built it ourselves. We took pride in our work. Upon noticing the many tourists visiting the flow late into the evening, we realized a B&B would be a great idea! So, if you are one of the many tourists, travelers and/or adventurers who plan on visiting the Kalapana Lava Flow and would like a nice place to stay, while there, on the flow - then look no more! We think you'll find the experience as something wonderfully unique.

THINGS TO DO :
The most recent National Volcanos Park lava viewing area is open to the public between 5:00 to 10:00 at night. From our place, it is a 15 minute walk -or a 5 minute drive.
Kaimu Black Sand Beach is a 30 minute hike over an older, fantastically formed lava flow - or a 10 minute drive from our place. The tiny village of Kaimu offers the feel of 'old Hawaii' with a lovely local outside cafe and a small grocery mart.
The 'Hot Pond' near Kapoho, located near the ocean side, is a place to relax in a large pool of warm, calm spring water. It is a lovely 30 minute coastal drive from our place.
The unique town of Pahoa is a 20 minute drive from our place. There are restaurants, a health food store and the small local 'Sirius Coffee Shop' where they serve locally grown coffee, bagels and homemade sweet treats -mention us and get a free cup of coffee!
There are many beautiful places to visit while here on Hawaii and we would be happy to help with any further ideas on your travel explorations.
BED & BREAKFAST Rates Information:
Again, we are located 60 minutes from the Hilo airport by car or a 2 hour drive if you are traveling from the Kona airport.
The rates for our rooms include a continental breakfast each morning (choice of 'homemade waffles', local fruit of the season plus locally grown coffee, herb tea or fresh juice). We also provide free wireless internet service to all our guests. Sales tax is also included. Our guest rooms (double occupancy) are $105.00 a night.
* note, we have a well-groomed & much loved mellow dog & cat on premise.
** we are non-smokers but you are welcome to smoke out on one of our lanais.
